Another exciting kit that will soon be joining the ranks in the Sloth Byte store is “The Clock”.

Yes, that’s correct, named “The Clock”, it is based around 74xx series ICs without a microcontroller or CPU in sight!

The timekeeping is derived from a crystal that oscillates at 32,768 times per second! This is then divided down to one clock cycle per second – 1 Hz. Then it just becomes a matter of keeping count of these clock cycles and decoding the binary coded decimal to be displayed on the seven-segment display.

The prototype PCB design is complete and currently being manufactured, ready for testing 🙂
